Turbulent

Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada

This is one of those weeks where all the other entries that I saw for this weeks PhotoFriday, “Turbulent,” make zero sense to me. Turbulent means disorder or chaotic which, to me, suggested a bumpy plane ride or a mass of flowing water. In the end I felt that this image of Niagara Falls (from the Canadian side) conveyed the message best. Landscapes or a bed don’t tell the same story to me.

Please also vote for my image in last weeks challenge, “Open.” I’m entry number 191.

Contrast

Getty Museum, Los Angeles

For this weeks PhotoFriday, I thought of a picture I took a couple of years ago in Stockholm. As I usually do, I searched to see if I’d used the same image for any other challenges. It turns out I had. For a challenge titled, “Contrast.” Well, at least I’m consistent.

The above image, of the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, has pretty much the same idea.

I’m even later than usual this week — I was away from home is my excuse — so even though I posted an entry in last weeks challenge, it’s now too late to vote for it. Even I didn’t vote for myself!

Architecture

Empire State Building framed by the Manhattan Bridge, from Booklyn

My first ideas when I first heard that this weeks PhotoFriday theme was “Architecture” was New York. I flirted with other places and ideas — such as the Eiffel Tower and a couple of shots from Vienna — but I kept coming back to the sky-scrapers and bridges of Manhattan. In the end I picked this one because it has Brooklyn Bridge and the Empire State Building.

No need to feel guilty for not voting for my entry last week as I skipped the last couple of challenges.

Reflect

Chrysler Building

In fact I’m not completely happy with this image, at least for the theme of “Reflect,” which is this weeks PhotoFriday challenge. It’s a reflection but I’m not completely sure that it means “reflect.” But I couldn’t find one (or think of one to take) that would be more appropriate, so here it is. It was taken earlier this year in New York — it’s a reflection of the Chrysler Building in the building across the road from it.

Please also vote for my entry in last weeks challenge, “Daybreak.” I’m entry number 178.

Crooked

This weeks PhotoFriday, “Crooked,” is another one where I thought someone else must have got there before me (especially since I’m two days behind the “Friday” schedule). But, as far as I can tell, no one else has gone for “The Crookedest Street in the World.” Also known as Lombard Street in San Francisco.

(My second choice would have been potentially libellous images of banks or stock exchanges. It maybe just as well I didn’t need to go down that route.)

Please also vote for my entry in last weeks challenge, “Sky-High.” I’m entry number 229.
